I am a lover of nature and while I enjoy the expansive views mountains offer, it is the wee little flowers and plants in these wild places that reveal exquisitely formed patterns in how they grow, which draw my attention. I learned as a child the skillful patterns of physical movement and of seeing and making artistic images and objects with my hands; and over the years I have found joy and amazement in both making art and practicing yoga. My teaching is braided together by 3 understandings: that everything is spiritual, everything is connected, and everything changes (sometimes by conscious choice, by a gift-like surprise, or by unpredictable life storms). I teach what I practice; I work with self-study, pranayama, physical asana, contemplation, study and meditation.
I teach yoga because I love how it feels in my body; I have found it a viable vehicle towards change and transformation in my own life. I am so grateful for the dedicated teachers/seekers I have been blessed to study with along the way: I would have little to offer if it were not for their dedicated practice, study, and willingness to share and teach. May we come to know our inner-selves so deeply that we can live the life that we passionately seek.
Alongside my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, completed at Samadhi Yoga Studio in Manchester, CT (2010) and my 300 hour training completed with Yoganand Michael Carroll and Pranakriya Yoga (2017), I have taken CE credits in: Yin Yoga Training with Corina Benner, Meditation at the Yoga Life Institute, Re-Imagining Alignment with Leslie Kaminoff, Fly Yoga Immersions and Workshops with Sherry Sidoti, and Chakra Yoga training with Anodea Judith, and Broga Yoga Training with Robert Sidoti. And, whenever I travel, I always visit local yoga studios to experience how the yoga is being lived out and shared.
Since I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training, I have offered over 3,000 hours of teaching at traditional yoga studios, gyms, in private 55+ communities, for churches and community groups seeking a spirit-based practice, for school teachers seeking stress reduction, movement, athletes seeking balance and effective stretching and those looking to develop a practice of healing self-care. I work with private clients – many of which are dealing with various issues like MS, stress management /anxiety, pain, sports injuries and post-surgery concerns. I created a program in Connecticut called Yoga for Food that for 6 years gave all proceeds from my teaching of a Community Yoga Circle, back to those in the community who were in need of assistance. I have hosted or been an additional presenter at retreats. In connecting with a nidra tradition which offers ways to deeply relax and de-stress, I have found a niche offering a meditation practice of Yoga Nidra.
